Adventures with Mommy ~ The Summer Before Kindergarten
About two weeks ago Adelaide asked me if she could get her ears pierced. I told her, “You have to talk to Daddy about that.” In our house, I am the free spirited, “whatever” and the one that everyone wants to climb all over but never listen to, even the dog. So I did not mind either way if she got her ears pierced, if she wanted them. I wanted them both to WANT to get them, which is why Daddy and I decided that we would wait until they started asking and they were old enough to make the decision themselves. Not that 5 year olds make responsible decisions or know what they really want half the time….. let’s face it most of the time they are bi-polar, indecisive, crazy little humans……with the energy of a hummingbird. So anyhow, we started Friday morning off with the plan that Adelaide would get her ears pierced at some point that day. I first was on a mission to find a sunflower field, so we drove all over West Rockingham County looking for one, with no luck……however we did end up out at the river and we got out and walked around and scoped out some spots for an upcoming engagement shoot. The girls ended up soaking wet…. I let them both choose what they wanted to wear and they ended up in these outfits….. yes, they are cray.
After splashing around for a little while and chasing a few butterflies that were swarming around, we got back in the car and decided before ear piercing we should probably change clothes. So a quick clothes change…..again letting them wear what they wanted….not sure if you can catch a glimpse of Adelaide’s socks but they are amazing. We headed to the mall for the big event of the day….. I of course brought the “big” camera with me. On the way over Madelynn proclaimed that she was also going to get her ears pierced. That she wanted them and she was doing it…..today. If any of you know Mads, she is a little stubborn firecracker that will indeed stop at nothing to get what she wants. Even if it entails laying down in the middle of the parking lot and banging her head on the asphalt…. she will get it. Me being the laid back mom that I tend to be, decided that we should call Daddy and make sure. Well as you can see from the photos…… they both got their ears pierced….. and not a tear out of either one…. I was impressed.
Then we hit up McAlister’s for some grub and finished the day at Sweet Bee. It was a pretty awesome day…… we had a blast and the girls were so excited about their new ears. I hope you all are enjoying your summer!!! I can’t believe in less then a month I will have a kindergartner!! Much Love, Jaime
